Sunday Mixer: Beau Young Prince – Dream Catcher

The DMV’s own Beau Young Prince just dropped his self proclaimed Re-Introduction into the music world as an artist in the form of a new mixtape entitled “Dream Catcher”. Right off the bat I have to say that this is where Beau Young Prince defined his flow. I can now categorize Beau’s style as real chill, laid back, and sometimes trippy. On the first track of this short and sweet mixtape entitled “Before Sleep” the first thought that went through my head is that his rhyme scheme reminded me of a new age, more college-like Andre 3000. Beau not only goes in with the mic but he also shows us what he can do production wise as well on two songs including “Just Another Day” featuring Huey Mack. Maybe it’s because the mixtape was a little short but I didn’t skip through any tracks and everything that Beau put on this project was pretty catchy. He stated that he set out to re-introduce himself as an older “more enlightened” artist and that the tape was short to give us a taste of that and he did exactly what he told us he would. Because of this I decided to give Beau Young Prince’s “Dream Catcher” a 5/5, for what you could call a “college music” artist Beau sounds a lot different then a lot of the Frat Rappers out right now and deserves a lot more credit that he can hopefully gather from this tape.
